Burring - apparatus ; carding- engines.-The wool or like fibre after being partly opened and cleaned is fed on to a drum 1 covered with Garnett teeth of coarse pitch, and outstanding burrs are removed by a burring- roller 2. The material is then removed from the drum in two fleeces by strippers 6, 10 on to rollers 4, 5 covered with fine Garnett teeth and provided with burring-rollers 7. A second cylinder or drum, which may work in conjunction with a burring-roller and with workers and strippers, may be provided. The burred and partly cleaned material is removed from the rollers 4, 5 by one or more doffers, and may be then treated in a carding-apparatus.
