Abstract

10,694. Locke, F. M. May 8. Conductors, supports or holders for; insulators.- High-tension electric conductors are carried on a number of insulators arranged in series, the bottom of one insulator being carried by suitable devices from the top of another, so that the insulators are all in compression and the parts may be assembled without cementing or special glazing. The insulators to any number may hang from the support 1 and be placed one below the other as shown in Fig. 1, the caps 7 and stalks 4 being connected by bars 6 ; they, however, may be replaced by stirrups, or as shown in Fig. 4 may project out sideways, or as shown in Fig. 5 may be carried by two main supports 1, the conductor 19 being attached to the top of the central insulation. One of the stirrup form of supports is shown in Fig. 6, the conductor 8 being carried on the centre stirrup ; this particular form, if arranged in sets of three, is particularly suitable for three-wire systems.
