Abstract

27,180. Beck, C., and Beck, H. C. Nov. 29. Lenses.-The Figure shows an uncemented anastigmatic five-lens combination, consisting of positive lenses L', L<5> and negative lenses L', L<3>, L<4> separated by air spaces, two of which d<7>, d<8> form positive and two d<6>, d<9> negative lenses. The two more powerful of the three negative lenses are meniscus-shaped, and made of glass of greater dispersive power than that of which the positive lenses are made. On one side of the stop, the combination may consist of two meniscus lenses, one negative and the other positive ; while on the other side, a meniscus positive lens is combined with two negative lenses, one at least of which is also a meniscus. In each half of the combination, one at least of the negative lenses has a higher refractive power and dispersion than the corresponding. positive lens. Constructional data are given in the Specification.
