Stoppers.-Bail stoppers are fitted with two washers of different widths, one fitting over the other, and are used in connexion with a bottle neck formed with one or more internal shoulders c, Fig. 6. Preferably a cylindrical stopper B, Fig. 2, is used with a shank b fitted with a cork ring d and a rubber ring d' of smaller width, but a conical shank b<2>, Fig. 4, with conical rings d, d<1>, or a stepped shank b, Fig. 5, with rings d, d' of equal widths may be employed. The cork ring d prevents liquid from reaching the rubber ring d', which is adapted to form an air-tight joint.
