Emptying bottles &c.-In a device for inflating the pneumatic tyres of bicycles, tricycles, motor-cars, &c. from a cartridge containing air or gas under pressure, the cartridge is provided with a valve- or internal stopper, which, normally closed by the internal pressure, is displaced during inflation by a handoperated lever, to allow the gas to pass direct to the tyre with minimum leakage from the casing enclosing the cartridge. In the form shown, the cartridge D is provided with a stopper or valve E normally seating on a rubber washer e<1> retained by bending over the neck d<2>. The casing A is shouldered at a<2> to receive a flexible connexion B, and is provided with a screw cap F carrying a pivoted lever f working through a slot f<4>. When the lever f is forced inwards, a pivoted concave piece f<3> presses the cartridge upon a rubber or other resilient ring C, thereby displacing the valve E within a limit defined by the shoulder e<5>, and allowing the compressed fluid to flow along longitudinal and transverse grooves in the valve, and through the narrow bore a<1> to the tyre. The resilient ring C maintains an air-tight joint between the cartridge and casing, and a retracting-spring c<1> facilitates reclosure of the cartridge.
