Abstract
8261. Howden, J. March 31. Floors.-Hollow concrete floors are constructed by placing boxes or shells E of thin wood or other material in the spaces between wood or metal beams or girders A. Coke breeze or other dry material is laid on a temporary support of boards B, and liquid Portland cement, petrifite, or other cement is poured over the dry material. The boxes or shells are then placed in position, the spaces are filled in with coke breeze, and liquid cement is poured over the whole. The floor is finished with tiles, boards, or cement, and the ceiling is plastered. When wooden beams are used, strips are fixed along their lower edges to support the concrete.
