Controlling - - apparatus, arrangements of hand, foot, and transmission gear in conjunction with; steering-gear. - Means for operating the control gear of a tractor from a towed machine comprises shafts having universal joints and mounted in a pivoted panel or plate on the machine and in a frame on the tractor, the shafts being con. nected with the ordinary control members of the tractor. The tractor is furnished with a frame 10 rigidly attached to the axle casing and fitted with horizontal members 11 connected bv transverse members 12, 13. An apron 14 is fixed to the member 12 and to the steering column 15. The usual steering wheel is replaced by a bevelgear in mesh with a gear on a shaft 21 having bearings in the frame 10 and member 13, and connected by a universal joint to a telescopic shaft 25, the rear end of which is carried in a pivoted plate 19 mounted on a frame 17 and carries the steering wheel. The throttle is operated by a hand-lever 63 on a telescopic and universally jointed shaft 61 connected by a shaft 57 to the usual control. The clutch is controlled by a pedal 35 operating a rock shaft 31, the front end of which is connected by an arm and link to the tractor clutch pedal. The changespeed gear is operated by a fourth shaft from a handle 54. the front end being fitted with a depending arm 49 connected with the change-speed lever. The movements of the change-speed lever in its gate are effected by suitably operating the handle 54. The shaft comprises telescopic sections held in their adjusted relative positions by a spring catch 53 on one section engaging teeth on the other.
