Abstract

185,725. Nishina, E. Aug. 4, 1922. Preserving milk, eggs, vegetables, meat, fish, &c.-In obtaining dry products from soy sauce, bean flour, sakÚ, solutions of salt or sugar, fruit juices, eggs, milk, vegetables, meat, fish, &c., the material reduced, if necessary, to a pasty condition, is passed from a tank 1 through an adjustable slotted outlet 3 and is forced by a jet of air or inert gas from nozzles 5 on to the surface of an endless travelling band 6 of absorbent material, such as felt, cotton fabric, &c. The band passes over a roller 8 surrounded by a suction chamber 9 and through a drying chamber which may be under reduced pressure. The dried material is removed by a scraper 10. The treatment may be effected in an atmosphere of carbon dioxide or other inert gas. Fruit juices, wines, &c. may be first distilled to obtain the volatile ingredients which are added to the dried residue.
