178,064. Seelbach, J. April 8, 1921, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee. not paid). Violins and like bowed instruments; sound-posts; fingerboards.-A number of resonating rods 4 are mounted at one end in blocks 3 secured to the belly under the bridge, and are arranged with their free ends, which are of greater diameter, nearly touching the ribs. The sound-post is in the form of a fork 6, of which one prong rests on the back while the other is free. The finger-board 12 is hollow and forms a soundbox 17 in which is arranged another resonating rod 15 mounted at one end in a loose plate 14 held between the end of the finger-board and the nut 13. The belly 1 has no rim projecting outside the ribs 5 and is secured thereto by glueing on two veneer bands 8, 10 at right-angles, the band 10 lying in a recess at the edge of the belly.
