Abstract

174,017. Flettner, A. July 7, 1920. Addition to 147,024. Rudders. - The main rudder post or spindle described in the parent Specification is attached to or formed integrally with the hull of the ship. The spindle 70, Fig. 1, of the rudder 1 is secured at the top to the hull 60 and at the bottom to an extension 71. The spindle 72, Fig. 2, is formed as a conical projection on the hull upon which the rudder 1<A> rotates on ball bearings 73. The actuating-shaft 74 of the auxiliary rudder 2A passes through the spindle.
