Bag filters.-A filter for the lubricating oil of an internal-combustion engine comprises two chambers a, g, divided by a partition f, the wall of each chamber consisting of a slit spring perforated cylinder surrounded by gauze b the longitudinal edges of which are secured in the slit in the cylinder by a distance strip c. The cylinders are assembled between a plate e and a casting forming an outlet h by screwed rods i, k, and the whole is removable from the housing n by a handle l, being retained in the housing by a spring p and bayonet-connected cover q. The outlet h is encircled by an annular cup m which receives sludge from the crank case through an opening s. Oil introduced into chamber a passes to the crank case through the wall of the chamber and an opening @, and oil is withdrawn from the crank case under the influence of a pump connected at h<1> through the wall of the chamber g and the outlet h, past the feet m<1> of the cup m.
