Abstract

171,201. Scott, W. Aug. 20, 1920. Shaft. couplings.-In shock-absorbing devices for use on motor-cycles, automobiles &c. in connecting two shafts, a hub to a driving-axle, &c. for drive in either direction, screws 3, 4 of the same or different pitch and of opposite hand formed upon the two parts 1, 6 to be connected are engaged by a nut 8, against which bear oppositely-acting springs 9, 10. Increase of load causes axial movement of the nut 8, which returns to its normal position when the load falls again.
