Abstract

Producers.-Water gas made in the usual way in a generator A is carburetted by' admitting during the steaming period powdered bituminous coal in suspension in a fluid carrying medium through a pipe E to the space above the fuel. This powdered fuel is distilled by the hot gas and the residue of coke accumulates on the fuel bed and serves to replace some or all of the fuel used in the production of the water gas. Gas, such as water gas, is stored under pressure in a tank K and is released by a valve H so as to inject the powdered coal from a, container N in a series of puffs through the pipes h and E into the producer.
