Abstract

168,494. Drucker, W. J. July 21, 1920. Batch - mixers with rotary containers.- An emulsifier or mixing-machine, particularly intended for making mayonnaise, comprises a rotatable receptacle and a stationary stirrer, the stirrer being secured to a lug depending from a frame above the receptacle, means being provided to permit lateral adjustment of the stirrer. As shown in Fig. 1, the receptacle 12 stands upon a platform 9 which is rotated by a motor 8. The lower edge of the receptacle rests in a groove 10 on the platform 9, and has notches which engage projections in the groove. A socket formed in the centre of the bottom 13 receives a stud 16 on the platform, so that the receptacle is prevented from moving in the platform and is forced to rotate with it. A frame 19, which supports an oil-container 20, extends over the receptacle, and has a depending lug 21 which is so situated that when a plate 25 supporting the stirrer is clamped to the lug by a screw 23, the axes of the stirrer and the receptacle are coincident. The stirrer is secured to the plate 25 by means of bolts 26 which pass through larger holes 27, Fig. 6, in the plate. Thus by slacking the bolts 26, the stirrer may be adjusted laterally to accommodate it to the receptacle.
