Abstract

168,428. Spencer, P. June 7, 1920. Containers, collapsable. - A collapsable container fitted in a grease-cup or analogous device and adapted to be collapsed by pressure to express its contents of viscous material is so formed that when the pressure is relieved it will recover its shape, whereby, after recharging, it may be used repeatedly. As applied to a grease-cup 1 with a screw cap 2, the container 3 is in the form of a volute spring wound from the top in a counter-clockwise direction. The lower end is formed with tongues 5 which engage serrations in the base of the cup to hold the container against rotation. The upper edge of the container is provided with a detent 8 engaging notches 9 in the cap 2 in order to resist unscrewing of the cap and to assist in the collapse of the container. In a modification, the container comprises two telescopic tubes pressed apart by a spring. In a further modification, the container is in the form of an open helical spring provided with detents at each end.
