Abstract
168,150. Bentall, E. E., and Bingham, G. C. May 25, 1920. Manure distributors. - A yielding member is inserted in the train of gearing between a shaft D driven by the land wheels and the shaft E driving the distributing - device of an artificial manure distributor to permit the drive to slip when an abnormal strain is put on the gear. The shaft E has secured on its squared end a clutch box F provided with internal notches which are adapted to be engaged by a spring-pressed pawl K mounted on a pin H projecting from a clutch plate G loose on the shaft E but coupled to the last pinion C of the driving gear, this pinion also being loose on the shaft E. Exceptional strain causes the spring to yield and the pawl to slipidly on the notches of the clutch box. A pin which breaks when exceptional strain is encountered may replace the clutch.
