Abstract

167,124. Stephens, A. J., (Kingsbury & Davis Machine Co.). March 26, 1920, Machines for making paper boxes having reciprocating formers, for example those described in Specifications 10729/03 and 164,888. The radiallymoved crimpers 8, 9, Figs. 2. 4, and 6, are constructed with outwardly inclined surfaces as shown, so that if the former 2 descends while the crimpers are in its path, they will be pushed out of the way without injury to the parts. The crimpers may be adjusted vertically in their carriers 13, 29 by means of bolts passing through slots in the carriers and securing the crimpers thereto by wing nuts 13<e>, 29<e>. Pins 41<x> on the crimpers engage holes 42<x> in blocks 40 on the carriers and are frictionally held by spring-pressed members so as to be removable. Crimper-blades b of various sizes may be employed according to the size of the box to be made. The formed box a<1>, Fig. 3, is held in place for the crimping operation after the former is removed by spring stops 6, Fig. 3, and spring grips 10, 11. Specification 167,123 also is referred to.
