Abstract

166,491. Johnson, G. T. Dec. 30, 1920. Roll holders for toilet paper which is used in short lengths. Two roll-supports 6 and 6<a> are adapted to enter the central portion of a roll, and a spring-pressed adjustable friction plate 7 is held against rotation by portions of the roll support 6 which engage slots in the plate. The plate 7 is pressed against the roll by a spring 8, fitted in a recess in the support 6 and its position is adjusted by means of a wing-nut 17 and collar 16 fitted to the spindle 10. The spindle 10 is hollow at one end and fitted with a spring-pressed plunger 11 which engages a slot in the supporting-boss 6a, thus preventing the pivoted arms, which support the bosses from a base-plate, from swinging out of position. The plunger 11 is operated by a pin 14 which.is slidable in a slot in the member 10, and which is only accessible when the roll is expended. If desirable the friction plate 7 can be held out of operation by means of the nut 17.
