Reservoir pens.-In a reservoir pen fitted with an ordinary steel nib, the feeder consists of a hollow plug provided with an aperture registering with an air-duct and ink-feeding channels in a core fitted therein, and detachably connected to and forming a continuation of the reservoir, the nib being detachably held outside the plug to prevent corrosion. Referring to Fig. 1 a celluloid or other transparent and resilient reservoir a provided with a wooden holder z, has a lower neck portion h outside which a nib d is held bv a ring w, the inner ends of the nib and ring bearing against the end of the holder. The shank of the nib is provided with outwardly-turned edges, and may be of greater diameter than the ring w, so that the nib may be rotated on the neck h by the ring. To prevent the shank of the nib from being soiled by drawing it over the aperture in the feeder when the ring is partly removed, for instance to ascertain the amount of ink in the reservoir, the nib is provided with a projection x engaging a recess y in the neck h. The feeder, which is in contact with the nib only at its extreme point, consists of a hollow plug c and an internal core k, the plug being provided with a conical portion e fitting into a correspondinglyshaped portion of the neck of the ink reservoir. The core k is formed with a channel m communicating with an aperture o in the plug c serving for the admission of air, and a number of capillary ink-feeding grooves l which are continued by similar grooves n in the lower part of the plug. The ink-grooves and air-duct are inclined towards the wall of the reservoir opposite the aperture o to form a comparatively wide passage t increasing in area upwardly to permit the uninterrupted admission of air. A chamber g between the nib d and ink-feeder serves for the reception of excess ink, and increases in size upwardly until bounded by a collar i.
