165,999. Welin Davit & Engineering Co., Ltd., and Davis, A. W. April 30, 1920. Davits.-In davits of the type in which the luffing-gear comprises a screw E, pivotal about a fore-and-aft axis G inboard of the davit axis, and working in a nut D carried by an arm C fast on the davit, the screw E is journaled in a bracket F connected to the davit arm or socket by a tierod J which constrains the motion of the screw and bracket about their pivot. The bracket F is pivoted at G and provided with a driving-gear comprising the handle I and bevel-gear H for operating the screw. The arm C is fast to the davit socket and is fitted with a tie-rod K.
