165,485. Pullin, C. G., and Groom, S. L. Jan. 6, 1920. Sheet-metal frames.-A motor-cycle frame is constructed of two dished sheet-metal plates 3, 4, Fig. 2, jointed along their edges 5 forming a boxlike structure with its bottom wholly, and its sides partially, removed. A hollow 14 is provided in the frame to receive a steering-head socket, and bearings are provided for a combined chain case and wheel-fork member 32, Fig. 5, and a telescopic member 33 partially supporting the rear wheel. Tanks 6 for fuel &c. may be fitted in the framework, and supported by corrugated diaphragms 23, 28, or the diaphragms may partition off parts of the frame to form tanks. A swollen portion 12 provides clearance round the engine cylinder and forms a cooling-tunnel. An aperture 9 accommodates the engine shaft, and on the other side an aperture 13 accommodates the flywheel. Other apertures 15, 16 accommodate the inlets to the fuel tanks, an aperture 17 accommodates the seat pillar, and other apertures, such as 10, 18, accommodate parts of the driving-gear &c. An inspection opening 7 is made in the plate 3.
