Abstract

Fats, extracting by solvents. A solvent of fat for mixing with water to scour textiles or leather consists of a hydrocarbon or derivative, to which is added 1-5 per cent of fatty acid and sufficient alcohol and potash or other alkali lye in equal volumes to produce liquid miscible with water in all proportions. In an example, 20 grms. colza-oil acid is stirred into 1000 grms. benzine and 8 grms. caustic potash of 50 DEG B<\>ae and 8 ccs. alcohol are added; in a second example, 50 grms. oleic acid, 1000 grms. trichlorethylene, 20 grms. potash lye, and 20 grms. alcohol are used.
