Abstract

155,406. Blakeborough, R. A., and Boyd, W. Oct. 9, 1919. Seats.-For securing seating-rings in valve casings, the seating opening a, Figs. 2 and 4, is formed with an open-sided recess having a countersunk portion a<2> into which the end portion of a flange extension b<2> of the seating-ring b is forced by radial pressure. This end portion may be thickened so as to avoid the annulus or groove c, Fig. 2, the inner surface being left flush with the opening in the casing as shown in Fig. 4.
