Abstract

1530147 Power cable junction box SIEMENS AG 12 Dec 1975 [17 Oct 1978] 51122/75 Headings H2E and H2C A junction box assembly for use in a cable installation in which the cable is housed in a pipe 3 containing a coolant has a by-pass arrangement 7. A branched pipe made of two parts 5, 6 telescopically connected to facilitate initial installation and subsequently welded together, is used at each end to connect the junction box to the pipe system, the cable passing through the straight branch via a seal 14, into the junction box via seal 13, the coolant passing through a by-pass pipe 7 connected between the branch arms. The bypass may have a stop valve 71, filling and venting valves 72, 73, and pressure or flow meters 74. Resilient connections are made between the walls 4 of the junction box assembly housing to provide for thermal expansion. The housing 10 is in two parts separated by insulating bush 11. Metal sheath 17 of cable 2 is electrically connected via sealing bush 13 to the casing 10, insulating bushes 15 being used between flange 62 and casing 10.
