Abstract

1527018 Pipe couplings UNITED CARR Ltd 22 July 1977 [23 July 1976] 30851/76 Headings F2G and F2H A spigot 12 projecting from a fluid reservoir 10 and which is provided with a circumferential rib 14, is held in a cylindrical bore in an hydraulic cylinder 11, the bore having a circumferential recess 22 by means of a clip 25 of plastics material, the clip having an axial split (not shown), which enables it to enter within the bore, and an end edge which can then spring out to engage within the recess 22 as shown and hold the spigot 12 in place. A seal is provided by a ring 32, and the axial length of the clip 25 is such that it can be engaged by a pair of pliers with C-shaped jaws inserted between the reservoir 10 and cylinder 11 to release the spigot 12. In an alternative form, the clip is made of steel and is provided with prongs bent outwardly from the sleeve to engage within the recess 22.
