Abstract

1521532 Thermally-responsive systems TI DOMESTIC APPLIANCES Ltd 27 Jan 1976 [28 Jan 1975] 3715/75 Heading G1N [Also in in Division G4] The "damp-dry" condition for articles in a tumbler dryer, defined by the point A (Fig. 1) on the curve showing the temperature of the air leaving the dryer against time, is determined by locating the point B at which the temperature gradient is e.g. 1‹C per minute, and allowing the temperature to rise a further pre-set amount e.g. 4‹C. The signal from a temperature sensor 1 (Fig. 3), e.g. a thermocouple or thermistor, is differentiated at 3 and compared with a pre-set value. When this is reached, the corresponding temperature signal is fed to unit 5 where it is augmented by a pre-set amount and fed as a reference value to a comparator 2 which also receives the temperature signal from sensor 1. When these are equal the comparator 2 produces an output signal which operates a switching device 6 for the tumbler dryer heater 7.
