Abstract
1516978 Cationic disazo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 Oct 1975 [28 Nov 1974] 51561/74 Heading C4P Disazo dyes free from SO 3 H and COOH groups having the formula: (where A is the residue of a primary aromatic or heterocyclic amine; B is the residue of a paracoupling primary aromatic amine; E is a group of formula where R is H or lower alkyl; R<SP>2</SP> is H, alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino or ureido; R<SP>3</SP> is H or R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> together with the C atoms to which they are attached form a fused ring optionally containing a hetero atom; Z is acyl; Q<SP>(+)</SP> is a cationic group attached directly or through a linking group to a ring atom of A, or forming a substituent on one of R, R<SP>1</SP> or R<SP>2</SP> or attached to a ring atom of E through a linking group and X<SP>(-)</SP> is an anion) are prepared by acylation of the corresponding dyestuff in which Z is H. The dyes are used for colouring synthetic polymeric materials, particularly polyacrylonitrile, polydicyanoethylene, polyester, polyamide, or cellulose ester in yellow brown to brown shades.
