Abstract
1516799 Self levelling optical instruments ESSILOR INTERNATIONAL (COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'OPTIQUE) 17 Dec 1976 [18 Dec 1975] 52873/76 Heading G2J [Also in Division G I ] In a self levelling optical sighting apparatus the objectives and eyepiece axes 11, 12 are both parallel and substantially horizontal; and a pendulum 6, 8, bears reflectors 5,10. The optical axis is directed to and returned from a non-pendulous prism 13 by reflectors 5, 10. The system of prisms 4, 13, 5 inverts the image both horizontally and vertically, while adjustment of the separation between reflectors 5, 10 and prism 13 alters the optical path and thereby allows focusing. The pendulous action provides the self levelling property.
