Abstract

1509506 Web threading devices CROWN ZELLERBACH CORP 17 May 1976 [27 May 1975 31 March 1976] 20294/76 Heading B8R A web threading device 10, Fig. 1, comprises a channel having a base wall 26 and side walls 28, the wall 26 being subdivided by a straight portion 38 and curved portion 42 into two portions each of which is provided at the leading end with a Coanda nozzle 68, 68<SP>1</SP>, to provide a flow of air along the base wall 26 and entrain a broken web 20 to the nip of rollers 16, 18. Each Coanda nozzle is formed by an aerofoil section whose leading end forms a narrow slit 78 with a wall 66, Fig. 2. The trailing end of the section abuts the portion 38. Air is supplied to the slit 78 from a plenum chamber 70 connected to a source of compressed air. The base wall may be composed of a number of sections articulated to one another for direction of the web tail to a required location (Fig. 11).
