Abstract

1507541 Indicating apparatus BPL (INSTRUMENTS) Ltd [trading as BRITISH PHYSICAL LABORATORIES] 28 Jan 1976 [30 Jan 1975] 4075/75 Heading G1J An instrument scale comprises a metal plate 5 having a reflective surface which is covered by an opaque layer 6 except for a predetermined strip 8 which acts as a mirror, and scale markings 10 on the layer 6 clear of the strip 8. The mirror strip helps to avoid parallax errors when reading the instrument. The plate may be of polished metal, or dull metal with a reflective coating. The opaque layer may be of paint applied through a mask or by silk screen printing. The scale markings may be applied by silk screen or litho printing. If a polished metal plate is used, it may be coated with lacquer or a thin transparent plastics sheet before the opaque layer 6 is applied.
