Abstract
1506283 Hot gas engines PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 30 April 1975 [3 May 1974] 17987/75 Heading F1S [Also in Division F4] A heating system for supplying heat to the heater 45 of a hot gas reciprocating machine 46, comprises an enclosure 40 housing three reservoirs 42, 43, 44 partially filled with a heat-accumulating material 48, an electric heating element 52, and a heat transport medium (not shown) in the enclosure which passes heat to the heater 45 via an evaporation/condensation cycle. The inner walls of the enclosure and the outer walls of the reservoirs are covered by a capillary wick 47. The heat transport medium 49 is also disposed within each reservoir. In operation of the system, the pressure in each of the reservoirs is substantially equal to the pressure in the enclosure. A partition may be present between 48 and 49. The heat accumulating material may either remain in a solid state throughout e.g. Al 2 O 3 ; BeO; TiO; MgOz; Si Oz or may alter from solid to liquid phase e.g. LiF; CaF 2 ; SrF 2 ; NaCl. Preferably, the material 48 is a mixture of metal salts NaF and/or MgFz, and the medium 49 is either sodium or calcium.
