Abstract

1504334 Reverse osmosis INGERTHORPE HOLDINGS Ltd 9 April 1975 14474/75 Addition to 1450030 Heading B1X A process for the production of an aqueous solution of desired concentration for medical purposes comprises passing water through a reverse osmosis column capable of retaining 100 percent of pyrogenic materials, preheating the water in a preheater, passing the pre-heated water to a main steriliser in which the solution is maintained at a sterilising temperature for sufficient time to sterilise the water and either prior to said preheating step or after said sterilising step admixing the water, in a suitable ratio, with a solution of higher concentration than desired. The main steriliser may be either an autoclave or a flash steriliser. The feed water may be deionised and filtered to remove particulate impurities.
