Abstract

1499470 Golf clubs PEPSICO INC 27 Sept 1976 [20 Feb 1976] 40013/76 Heading A6D [Also in Division C7] A wood-type golf club head 10 has a recess formed in its striking surface 11 and a metallic insert 19 located in the recess, an open ended passageway 26 extending through the entire vertical extent of the insert. The passageway may be of elongated rectangular cross-section, Fig. 5 (not shown). Grooves 24 formed in the insert form continuations of grooves formed in the unrecessed part of surface 11. The composite striking surface is part-spherical. Compositions of alloys from which the insert can be made are given. The insert may be secured by epoxy adhesive. The upper and lower edges of the insert may be slightly spaced from the corresponding surfaces of the recess.
