Abstract

1496265 Exhaust gas sensor FIAT SpA 27 May 1975 [23 July 1974] 23144/75 Heading G1N A device for determining the air/fuel ratio in an I.C. engine comprises a semi-conductor metal oxide powder 21 sensor compressed between two electrodes 23, 25 and a sleeve 22 of porous ceramic material. The oxide is Cr203, TiO 2 or MoO 3 . In use the device is immersed in the exhaust gases of the engine and is connected as shown in Fig. 1 or in a Wheatstone bridge having in an adjacent arm a similar sensor but having a gas impermeable ceramic sleeve, Fig. 3 (not shown), for temperature compensation.
