Abstract
1495097 Marking composition HOOGOVENS IJMUIDEN BV 22 April 1976 [25 April 1975] 16414/76 Heading C4A A marking composition for hot iron or steel articles, which is a dry powder suitable for application as such to a hot surface of an iron or steel article, consists of three components, which are a pigment, aluminium and an adhesion agent, the aluminium being provided to act as a reducing agent to reduce oxide on the hot article surface, and the adhesion agent being effective to cause adhesion to the article surface at a temperature which is not lower than 200 C. A suitable pigment is TiO 2 and suitable adhesion agents are a waxy chalk, SiO 2 and the bonding clay bentonite. The marking composition may be applied to the hot surface by means of a carrier gas jet.
