Abstract

1494913 Pesticidal treatment of growth media LICENCIA TALALMANYOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT 18 Oct 1974 [29 Oct 1973] 45186/74 Heading A5E [Also in Division Al] A process for producing a growth medium for edible fungi of the Pleurotus family comprises treating the medium with an aqueous solution of an alkyl (e.g. methyl) 1- (butylcarbamoyl)benz - imidazol - 2 - yl carbamate (benomyl), e.g. by spraying over the surface of the medium while the latter is turned. Specified growth media are chopped corn straw, comminuted maize cob, maize stalk, rice husks, hemp waste, flax, sarghum, sawdust and wood shavings. The growth medium also may contain plant seeds or grains (oat grains); maize, lucerne or soya flour, or inorganic fertiliser. The development of harmful micro-organisms and mites is hindered. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1193462.
