Abstract

1490789 Belt building drum assembly PHOENIX GUMMIWERKE AG 24 Oct 1975 [19 Nov 1974] 43909/75 Heading B7C A winding drum assembly for use in the production of a reinforcement belt for a vehicle tyre, comprises: a drum 1; an inflatable cylindrical jacket 2 in the form of a radially expansible cylindrical portion 3 and two annular walls 4, 5 attached at bending sites 6 to the cylindrical portion 3; the annular walls 4, 5 having bending zones 7, 8 which enable the walls to bend inwardly to accommodate adjustment of the outside diameter of the jacket; and axially adjustable lateral supports 15, 16 disposed to contact the annular walls adjacent the bending zones 7 so as to adjustably limit the radial expansion of the jacket 2. The jacket 2 may be formed of polyurethane. Magnets may be embedded in the jacket portion 3 for use in holding steel cord fabric.
