Abstract

1488278 Tray assemblies ALADDIN INDUSTRIES Inc 30 Dec 1974 [24 Jan 1974 15 April 1974] 56022/74 Heading A4A [Also in Division F4] A stackable food tray assembly comprises a tray 12 having a recessed portion 18 for receiving a dish 14 therein, and a thermally insulated cover 16 over the recessed portion, there being interengaging means 20 on the bottom of the cover and on the upper surface of the tray for sealing off the recessed portion and interengaging means 26, 28 on the top of the cover and on the lower surface of the tray for permitting the trays and covers to be alternately stacked one on top of the other. The insulation is relatively thicker in the sides 22 of the cover than in its top 24 so that when the assemblies are arranged in stacks, each stack may contain a different meal course and corresponds to a vertical thermal column at a constant temperature throughout the stack and which may be different from that in an adjacent stack. The tray may be of a plastics material, the dish of a ceramic or plastics, and the cover contains a urethane foam filling. The tray includes side recesses 82 which remain uncovered and are for salad &c. In an embodiment, Figs. 3-5 (not shown) the tray (34) and cover (32) are able to accommodate four dishes (56) separated by partitions provided in the tray and cover. Ridges (54), (60) and grooves (58) provide the interengaging means.
