Abstract

1487520 Bending pipes and rods DAIICHI KOSHUHA KOGYO KK 23 July 1975 30878/75 Heading B3E A pipe or rod to be bent is propelled through an annular heater 5 followed by a cooler 6, while an end or other suitable part is clamped to an arm 7 freely swinging about axis 8, and means is provided to prevent deformation of the pipe or rod cross-section. In Fig. 2, a pipe 1 is propelled by support 2 through an induction heater 5. Immediately downstream of the cooler 6, the pipe is surrounded by a frame 11 on support 12, comprising rolls 13, 15, Fig. 3, urged together by jack 14 operated by hydraulic pressure monitored at 19, such that flattening of the pipe cross-section is resisted. As bending progresses, clamps 20 are placed round the pipe at suitable intervals, each consisting of a frame 21, 23, 27 and pipe contacting elements 22, 26, Fig. 4, stressed by a jack 24 and then held stressed by a screw 33 and lock nut 32.
