Abstract
Organic effluents (waste waters) which contain water-soluble organic anionic substances and/or phenols are treated. For this purpose, the acidic effluent is first brought into contact with a solution of at least one amine of the formula: <IMAGE> in a water-insoluble organic solvent. In formula (1), R1 and R2, which can be identical or different, denote hydrogen atoms or halogen atoms or alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R signifies an alkyl or alkenyl group having 8 to 18 carbon atoms. The aqueous layer is then separated off from the organic layer. Finally, the organic layer is brought into contact with an aqueous alkaline solution. As a result, the anionic substances and/or phenols are transferred into the aqueous alkaline layer and the amine is recovered in the form of a solution in the organic solvent.
