1484637 Treatment chambers PIELKENROOD-VINITEX BV 22 Aug 1974 [25 Sept 1973] 36857/74 Heading A5R [Also in Division F4] A device for maintaining a dust and germ free zone over an operating table 11 comprises a cabinet 1 as described in Specification 1393394, having a vertical air exit surface and housing blowers and filters, and a U-tube 20, 21 for suspension along both sides and the free end of the table 11, the tube being apertured to deliver germ-free air transversely and downwardly and being connected by T- joints 30 to an air supply duct 31 supplied with air by a filter and blower unit 36, 37, the T-joints being rotatable about the axis of the duct 31 to permit pivoting of the U-tube from a horizontal position to a vertical position. The T-joints 30 may form a single unit slidably mounted on tube portions to define the duct 31, whereby the U-tube 20, 21 may be moved transversely relatively to the table 11. Alternatively, the T-joints 30 are separate and are slidably mounted on tube portions 31' and the bight portion of the U-tube includes a telescopic portion 32 to permit adaptation of the U-tube to tables 11 of different widths. The arms of the U-tube may be telescopically formed. U-tubes 33 pivotally connected to duct 31 and a further parallel supply duct 34 allow the U-tube to be raised or lowered 'with parallel motion. Curtains 15 on guides which are hingedly mounted on each side of the cabinet 1 may be swung to positions closing the front of a space in which the U- tube can be positioned vertically. Disinfectant sprayed into the space is collected in a trough 28 and passes to a filter 42. The blower 36 draws air from a chamber 38 having an air inlet controlled by a slide 40 and an inlet 41 from the filter 42, whereby with the slide 40 closed, air flows from blower 36 through the raised U-tube, the trough 28 and chamber 38 in a substantially closed circuit. Alternatively, filters 37, 42 communicate with blower 36 via separate valve controlled ducts so that filter 37 may be excluded from the circuit. The cabinet 1 is mounted for horizontal and vertical displacement on a support structure having wheels and vertical hydraulic jacks.
