Abstract

1484424 Inflatable bags NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd and TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc 6 June 1975 24398/75 Heading B8K [Also in Division B7] In a method of producing a vehicle occupant inflatable bag from a flat bag of quadirlateral shape with all four sides being sealed, a corner region of a front sheet of the bag is folded along a diagonal line 32b and a joint 28b formed between the two overlapping portions, the same steps of folding and jointing being applied to an adjacent corner region of a back sheet of the bag. As shown in Fig. 8 all four corner regions of each front and back sheet are folded and jointed in the same manner. The joints may be made along curved lines, as shown, or along straight lines, Figs. 11, 14 (not shown), according to the intended shape of the bag. Some examples of materials for the bag are woven or knitted fabrics, synthetic resin sheets, and natural and artificial leathers. The joints may be made by knitting, or adhesive bonding, or welding.
