Abstract

1473692 Ignition system DUCELLIER & CIE 9 July 1974 [11 July 1973] 30286/74 Heading F1B In an ignition system comprising an ignition signal trigger device 7, e.g. mechanical, magnetic, optical, or ignition advance computer, controlling a power amplifier 17,5 and 6 so that under normal supply voltage a signal from trigger 7 charges a capacitor 21 to render input stage transistor 17 conductive and output stage transistors 5, 6 non- conductive to induce a voltage in the ignition coil 1, a Zener diode 24 is connected to the base of transistor 17 to render it conductive when a supply voltage larger than a predetermined value is used at starting. With transistor 17 conducting, transistors 5 and 6 remain non-conducting. A signal from trigger 7 changes a capacitor 27 to render transistor 26 conductive, but transistor 17 remains conductive due to the charging of capacitor 21. When the charging at capacitor 21 is completed transistor 17 becomes non-conductive until capacitor 27 is completely charged. In this time transistors 5 and 6 conduct to produce an adequate current in primary winding 2 for the production of a spark.
