Abstract

1473147 Pads MINNESOTA MINING & Mfg CO 13 Sept 1974 [14 Sept 1973] 40094/74 Heading A4F A pad particularly for bathing the human body comprises a core of solid soap surrounded by a seamless edgeless envelope of crimped, stiff, resilient synthetic organic fibres of at least 3cm long. The pad being of a size capable of being readily held in the palm of the user. The pad may be formed by surrounding a sphere of soap with a bath of crimped loose fibres and needling the fibres with felting needles predominantly tangentially to unite them and also normal to the soap to cause slight entanglement therewith. Alternatively a ball of loose fibres is formed into an integral spherical form by needling and then melted soap can be injected or impregnated into its interior to form a solid core. Several suitable plastics fibres are specified for use in the envelope.
