Abstract

1470901 Fibre optic support or termination POST OFFICE 6 Feb 1976 [15 Jan 1975] 1754/75 Heading G2J A fibre optic waveguide 5 is clamped in position, to an optical apparatus, or joined abuttingly to a further fibre, by a device comprising a Veegrooved block 1 of a hard material and a snap-in deformable retainer (not shown) with a Vee position fitting the groove. As an optical termination a window can be provided in an angled end 9 and light focused from a source 10 by lens 12 to enter the fibre. The Vee block can comprise two complementary glass sections, Fig. 5 (not shown).
