Abstract

1466395 Sewing machine needle SINGER CO 6 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 25062/74 Addition to 1365546 Heading DIG The needle claimed in claim 1 of Specification 1365546 in which the threading slot 28 is transversely spaced from the centre line C.L. of the needle and terminates between the extremities 36, 48 of one side wall of the needle eye 20, provides that wall with a first portion 32 at one side of the slot terminus and nearer the point, and a second portion 38 at the other side, the first portion lying transversely between the slot and the centre line and having a transversely extending shoulder 40 which merges with one wall of the slot; the second portion 38 being arcuate and merging with the other wall of the slot at a location overlying the shoulder transversely between the said one wall of the slot and the first portion 32. The eye end 38 is curved to crest at 48 on the side of C.L. remote from portion 32; this urges the thread T away from the slot terminus.
