Abstract

1461416 Vulcanizable rubber compositions RICHARDSON CO 27 Dec 1973 [13 Feb 1973] 59754/73 Addition to 1332340 Heading C3P A vulcanizable composition comprises 5-20% by weight of a styrene-butadiene rubber, at least 60% by weight of a finely divided inert filler, 2-8% by weight of a styrene-butadiene copolymer resin, 2-15% by weight of glass fibres, 3-6% by weight of a processing oil and based on the rubber 40-160% by weight of an activator and 6-12% by weight of sulphur. The composition may also contain an accelerator, e.g. an aldehyde-amine accelerator. The composition may be moulded to form a thin walled container, e.g. a battery case then cured. In the example a mixture of styrene-butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene resin, lime as activator, coal dust as filler, sulphur, a naphthenic oil, glass fibres and as accelerator and mould release agents a primary aliphatic amine, a wax and the condensation product of butyraldehyde and aniline with dihydropyridine was moulded and cured.
