Abstract

1460289 Propelling ships OUTBOARD MARINE CORP 20 Dec 1973 [4 Jan 1973] 59264/73 Heading B7V A marine propulsion device comprises an outboard motor (not shown), mounted on a swivel bracket 15, which is itself mounted for vertical swinging movement about a horizontal tilt pin 17 relative to a transom bracket 13 for attachment to a vessel, a hydraulic cylinder and piston actuator (not shown), being connected between the swivel and transom brackets, the swivel bracket 15 carrying a circular toothed rack 81 engaging with a pinion 85 coupled to a wiper 35 moving over a coil 33 wound on a circular arcshaped support, the coil and wiper being connected in circuit with a battery and meter (not shown) which meter is calibrated to indicate the trim of the outboard motor relative to the transom of the vessel on which it is mounted.
