Abstract

1459497 Dental handpieces AMALGAMATED DENTAL CO Ltd 5 Feb 1974 5327/74 Heading A5R An electric micromotor 8 of a dental handpiece is a removable cartridge contained in handpiece housing 1 no part of which cartridge is integral with the housing and which is retained therein by a screw cap 9 having a tubular threaded extension 12 for engagement with a connector 14 on the end of a services supply hose 15. A drive shaft in handpiece sleeve 4 engages a driving dog 6 detachably mounted on drive shaft 7. Elastomeric washers 11, 11a are compressed against the motor's ends by screwing cap 9 onto thread 10 thus preventing the motor body turning. Sleeve 13 is threaded onto cap 9 to connect end fitting 14 of hose 15 to plug 16 for supplying electricity, compressed air and water. From plug 16, conduits 17 pass through slits 18 to connect with external tubing 19 leading to the handpiece.
