Abstract

1455817 Mixed transportation system; removable bodies GEC-ELLIOTT AUTOMATION Ltd 14 Jan 1974 [12 Oct 1972] 47041/72 Headings B7L and B7B In a mixed transportation system, a passenger cabin 1 in which a passenger sits throughout a journey is conveyed in turn by accommodation on a battery-driven road vehicle chassis 9, Fig. 2; on special rolling stock 18, 19 of a conventional railway using hydraulic rams 27 for loading and unloading of the cabins 1, Fig. 3; and suspended from bogies 30 on an overhead rail network driven electrically or by cable, Fig. 4. The cabin has controls 7 to enable a passenger to drive it when on the road vehicle chassis; transverse rails 10 on its underside for engagement on the chassis 9 or on the railway rolling stock; and a mounting bracket 6 on its roof for suspension from the overhead bogie. The road chassis 9 contains a battery 12, an electric traction motor 13 and an electric steering motor 14 all controlled from the control console 7 via an electric connector 11.
